Charles Rosier is a French investment banker with over 15 years of experience at financial institutions such as UBS Warburg and Goldman Sachs. An advocate of “ethical investment”, he is heavily involved in a range of different environmental and humanitarian projects.

Starting his career at Lehman Brothers in 1996, he soon joined UBS Warburg as Manager for the Debt Capital Markets division in 1997 for the French, Belgium and Quebec markets. Head hunted by Goldman Sachs in 1999, he finally joined the bank in 2009 in Paris as Managing Director of the Financing Group, where he was in charge of capital markets and derivatives. In 2010, Charles Rosier became Partner at the Brazilian bank BTG Pactual following the merger of the BTG group and Pactual. His role is to help develop international operations and relations in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

In addition to his banking career, Charles Rosier is an investor in bio-pharmaceutical company Mapreg run by Professor Etienne Baulieu (previous leader of the French Academy of Science). The laboratory undertakes research to find cures for strokes, depression, tetraplegia and Alzheimer’s. The work group, backed by Charles Rosier, discovered Magreg compounds (neuro-steroid derivatives). With promising results in all fields, these compounds could be used to develop a drug for strokes where damage is caused to the spinal cord. The first tests are currently being carried out.

Also a keen environmentalist, Charles Rosier was among the first investors to support the work of MPOWERD, which produces economical solar-powered lights for developing countries and eco-aware consumers in industrialised countries. He is also on the consulting council for NatureRights, a NGO that encourages citizens to take part in initiatives to protect the environment.
Charles Rosier is a pro-bono advisor for Innoveox. This French company has created the technology to help destroy urban, industrial and military waste, as well as micro-pollutants. Once treated, the energy and clean water produced are free from CO2 emissions and 99.99 % of waste is destroyed. Pollution and the risks associated with transporting waste are limited by using mobile processing units.

A music, cinema and culture lover, Charles Rosier sponsored the pre-production of the film “Golden Door” (“Nuovo Mundo” or literally “New World”) by Italian director Emanuele Crialese. The film, starring Charlotte Gainsbourg as an Italian women who emigrates from Britain to America, went on to win a Silver Lion at Venice Film Festival in 2006. He was also involved in helping the young French singer Lola produce her debut album, “Everybody Relax” in 2012.

Charles Rosier studied at Fénelon Sainte-Marie Lycée in the centre of Paris and took a scientific baccalauréat in 1991. After two years of preparatory classes to enter a highly competitive French business school, he completed a degree at ESCP Europe. He speaks French, English, Spanish and he is now learning Portuguese.

In his free time, Charles Rosier enjoys tennis, kitesurfing, snowboarding, freefall and windsurfing.
